In 2012, tests of KZ 202, the first stage of the IBR-2 cryogenic moderator complex, began in the pilot operation mode at the reactor power. KZ 202 in cryogenic mode for a physical experiment has already worked for more than 4500 hours. During this time, data were obtained on the change in the viscosity of the moderating agent under the action of ionizing radiation, empirical quantitative values of the releasing radiolytic hydrogen were obtained, the cryogenic cooling system of the SC complex was modernized, neutron-physical data were obtained for the moderators when operating in various temperature conditions.

In December 2020, in the trial operation mode, for the first time for a physical experiment in a cryogenic mode, the moderator KZ 201 worked out - the central direction (beams 1, 4, 5, 6, 9).

The report will present brief results of the operation of the IBR-2 cryogenic moderator complex from 2012 to 2021. An assessment of the operability and reliability of the process equipment of the KKZ in various operating modes is given. Comparative characteristics of viscosity, hydrogen yield, temperature regimes of operation of KZ 201 and KZ 202 will be given, given that they have different working chamber geometries and the location of the cryogenic chambers relative to the reactor core. Based on the results of the work for this period, the spectra of the neutron flux on beams in thermal and cold modes, plans for the development of the short circuit complex, the structure of the launch group, the size and necessary resources for putting the short circuit complex into operation will be presented.
